Philly Plants: STUMP Philly
Hi There and welcome back to my blog :)
This past year, like many others, I’ve started slowly collecting plants to bring the outside in. I’ve always wanted to have live plants all around my home, but felt like I could never keep anything alive! Now I’m realizing that you just have to be smart about which plants you bring home haha.
Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite places to get plants locally, STUMP Philly! I started searching plant tags and following plant accounts on Instagram. Through that I found STUMP Philly and instantly fell in love with all the beautiful plants posted on their Instagram and wanted to go instantly, but at the time I still didn’t feel comfortable going out places during covid. So I actually waited 2 months until I finally decided to go and take a look around. That’s when I got my first plant - a ficus tineke.
I had seen it posted on STUMP Philly’s Instagram account and did a little research. I loved the way it looked with its variegated leaves and that it was considered a beginner to intermediate plant that needed some bright indirect light. We have one south-facing window and a lot of east-facing windows that are conducive to those conditions so I knew it would be a great fit! I also love that STUMP Philly sells the cutest pottery. While it’s a little on the pricier side, it is just lovely so we also picked up a ceramic planter. Brett, the store owner even planted it for us.
From then on, it has become my go-to spot for picking up plants. While some of my plants have come from other places, majority of my plant friends came from STUMP Philly. The plants are reasonably priced and are always very healthy. Yes, you’ll pay a little more for plants at STUMP Philly than you will at Lowe’s, Home Depot or Walmart, but the quality of the plants are much better. I also find the big box stores the plants often have pests and if you know anything about getting rid of pests, paying a couple extra dollars is so worth it to save you the time and hassle.
Here are just a few of my favorites I’ve gotten from STUMP Philly:
